NLP (Neuro linguistic programming)
What is NLP?
NLP stands for Neuro-linguistic Programming. It is all about the connections between our thoughts, our emotions, and our actions. This includes how we experience the world, how we process and store information, how we plan and make decisions, and how we relate to others. NLP comprises several strategies which can empower individuals to take control of their thoughts and emotions in a positive way, thus achieving more positive outcomes.
How does NLP work?
It is all about the connections between our thoughts, our emotions, and our actions: how we take information in via our different senses and how we then process it internally to get our answers. This includes how we experience the world, how we process and store information, how we plan and make decisions, and how we relate to others.
NLP recognises that how we interpret information and our emotional response to that interpretation drives our decisions and behaviours. Using NLP techniques allows us to become aware of this process, giving us the power to change our thinking and behaviour to bring about a more successful outcome.
Here are some of the good things NLP can bring:
- Grows confidence in children and young people
- Improve communication skills
- Helps to overcome emotional problems
- Reduces Mental health symptoms in issues like anxiety and stress
When children learn how their conscious and unconscious or subconscious mind works and what their jobs are – they can start realising their full potential.
Why should we teach NLP to Children and young people?
NLP teaches children and young people (and adults) how to use their brain properly (neuro) and how to use language (linguistic) to understand others more clearly, express themselves more effectively, and understand why what they say to themselves is so very important as they are developing self-esteem. NLP teaches children and young people how to use strategies for personal success now and in their future (programming).
NLP is the study of the mind through modelling excellence. How we process information through a series of filters in our minds will determine our internal state and consequently our behaviours. With NLP, children learn how to be in a resourceful state rather than a reactive one. With NLP, there are a variety of techniques used to release negative emotions, fear, limiting beliefs, phobias, anxiety, and unwanted behaviours. When children learn how their conscious and unconscious or subconscious mind works and what their jobs are – they can start realising their full potential.
